    dying juniper

so i have been trying to rescue a bonsai that was deffinately abused! it was wired for way too long and the wire had to be peeled out of the groove that it had made in the tree! it was also a large ball of clay around the root mass and was completely hydo-phobic! i cleaned the roots off and trimmed back a little and repotted the little guy. then my girlfriend left it outside while i was at work in direct sun, not where i usually leave it!! the tips were slightly browning before, ithink from pinching but now it is kinda hard and dry for maybe the first 1/8 inch of tree tips? is there any emergency procceedure i should do to it to save it or should i just wait and see?

After root trimming any tree keep the tree out of the sun and put in the shade for one month to recover, after the juniper starts to grow green again, only give the tree morning sun from the east, if the tree is not shocked to bad the tree should be ok..

Is there a way to tell if it is already dead?

You can scrach the bark, if the under the bark is green it is still living, if it is brown then it is dead, and out side in the shade, junipers can not live indoors they will dry out and die...
