    tent question

I am in the market for an inexpensive solo tent. I will not be using it much...one or two trips a year probably, as my two-person Sierra designs tent is usually called for...so I want to spend as little as possible. I was looking at one made by a company called "slumberjack". I have never heard of them. Any good? I kind of doubt it, because the price is so cheap, but I thought it was worth asking.

Slumberjack makes a good tent I have two one man bivys and they have replaced the polls in one of them free of charge

It may not be your style, but have you thought of a bivvy sack? Some actually come with poles and are not claustraphobic, coming it at around 2lbs... just a thought.

Slumberjack is primarily a sleeping bag company in the U.S., Otto. The Predator and Raptor single-man tents they make are supposed to be pretty good, but they weigh over five pounds, if memory serves. The Slumberjack Bivy Shelter, to which you are probably referring, is cheaper and much lighter, but I`ve read that they aren`t good for much more than fair-weather camping.
Eureka! makes a pair of small tents similar to the Slumberjack Bivy Shelter, called the Solitaire and Gossamer. The former has fiberglass poles, the latter, aluminum. I`ve read that those are better tents than the Slumberjack version. E-mail: ctowerATbackpackerDOTcom
