    GPS

I was wondering if anyone knew of a somewhat cheap but effective GPS that I could get my father for his birthday. He is mainly a horse-back rider and spends a couple days to a week in the woods at a time.

sells for about $109USD, simple to use, can store a number of waypoints. No mapping features. Long battery life (22 hours advertised).
Also worth a look is the Magellan 315, a similar level unit form another company. various articles on GPS technology. Happy trails, Gary (net.yogi.bear)
