    College, 2 Years Away...

I have a bunch of trees in training, but I'm off to college and have only two growing seasons left with my trees before I go! What to do?!

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm a high school senior now, and I've also pondered what to do with my trees. My solution was to just plant them in the ground in a safe, sheltered spot to thicken up until I graduate from college, I guess. I also have some potensai out growing in the yard that I plan to prune and chop, etc. on breaks from college. I might, however, buy a suitable indoor tree for the dorm room or something so I wouldnt go crazy, lol.

you could build a self sustaining bonsai nursery to take care of your bonsais for you. a water sprayer on a timer, near a window for light.... maybe some kind of automatic furtilizer system.... this might be a little extreme....

You may want to check with some of the nurseries around you, and ask if they will foster them while you are away. It may come down to offering them $$$, but at least you would be able to relax knowing your trees are taken car of by someone knowledgable.

Well, the nearest nurdery is in D. Chicago, and I rarely venture in there. Besides, I've heard nasty things about that city involving bonsai, awful stories of theft and people just killing the trees for fun! I might just sell them or something, I suppose.

New England Bonsai Gardens. Google it, will take care of trees in their place. I consider them the best for advice, classes, and soil.
