Hiking w/ with 1YOs in possible rain conditions

We're going camping and hiking this weekend and forecast calls for rain. We don't really have a waterproof rain jacket for her yet or a hood any advice for a making a baby poncho? Trashbag with head hole? The kids will be in a carry pack.

Personally, I'd abort the mission until the waether improves, especially with rugrats in tow. It's not worth the risks or to make their first outdoors excursion simply horrible.. Let them wait until the boys join the Army to experience the beauty of rain and mud.

    Cheers,

I agree with Sergemaster. You've got some time to see if the weather changes for the weekend, but if it calls for heavy rain I wouldn't go... If it's light, seems like a trashbag is the best bet, and make sure the babe is dressed warmly!

I thought they had rain covers for those kid carrier packs? The Kelty model I looked at a couple of years ago did, but I agree with the others as far this maybe not a good idea with a 1 yo.
