I normally avoid hiking in winters. It is very difficult for me. As I am new to it, I am taking my time to get adjusted to all type of temperatures.. But I do have a couple of friends who hike during winters.

i love hiking in the winter. everything is so pristine and the air crisp, esp. after a nice snowfall. +1 on the water, and a warm cup of hot cocoa (well worth carrying the extra gear) can feel amazing half way through.
