Thread: twiggy stoves

    twiggy stoves

    Hi,

I am looking for super lightweight backcountry cooking stoves, and I've heard about some that use twigs and are apparently super light. Has anyone heard of or used one of these? I'm assuming they must be homemade. Would appreciate any info.

    Cheers!

Do a search on "zenstoves". There's a list of virtually any kind of usable stove there. I've tinkered with a few of the designs, (mostly alcohol types).

I would honestly just invest in a titanium pot, like the snow peak 700...and just make a fire and put this next to it...

The only thing I dont like about the twig stoves is...well what to do if your planned fuel is wet?

To me alcohol is much more reliable.

i think the idea with the higher end twig stoves is that they burn so hot it doesn't matter if the wood is a bit damp, so long as you can get it started...

i've actually gotten back into trying out my own twig stove again. had to stop b/c i burned down the dremmel cutter thing i was using. i'll be back at it this weekend.

btw, has anyone seen my camera?
