    Keep in mind also that a dog's skin is a lot thicker than ours as well and provides pretty good insulation. Even on a short hair dog, that fur is like a nice jacket that covers their entire body (where with us, we lose a lot of heat from our unprotected faces, etc). With the suggestions above to separate the cold ground from direct contact, you shouldn't have a problem at 30-40 degrees. I'd start to worry if it dropped below 10ish.

    I recomend Muttlucks and a K9 Top Coat for short hair dogs in winter conditions.

    I like some of the stuff on there but where I hike dogs are not aloud
    so she stays at home.
