I bring a bunch of PowerBars. 1 will leave you satisfied for a meal. I also use Mountain House dehydrated meals with the Mountain House Flameless Oven. Just add water and in 15 minutes you have a hot meal--no matches or fire needed--great when it rains. The meals and oven are light--Can purchase at most outdoor retailers. If I need to hike light for a few days, I'll take ASAP chocolate meal drinks (www.nqinutrition.com). Thin, light disposable pouches--just add water and you have a high protein meal--does the job.

I like to carry granola bars and trail mix for breakfast and on the go food. Also like the Mountain House meals. Very good and filling in the evening after a long day of hiking. I also like to carry a small personal size bottle of wine for the last night. Kind of a muscle relaxer for the last days push.

    Rick,

I love a good wine myself, but a warm-heated bottle makes me a little queezy. How do you deal with that?
