Ultimate Backpacking Bowl - 2009/06/13 01:23 My dream backpacking bowl would be lightweight, have a screwtop, and would accommodate two ramen noodle packets or a double serving freeze-dried meal (like Mountain House) with boiling water. The reason I'd like a screw top is to lock in the heat while the food is rehydrating without worrying about it popping off. I also like the confidence that liquid or food won't drip out of a screw top if I need to throw it in my pack before washing. Does anyone have something like this? My guess is that it would have to be plastic. Ziploc disposables makes something like this, but it only holds two cups.

Ultimate Backpacking Bowl - 2009/06/13 02:41 My bowl is also the lid to my pot (found it at a thrift store lol). I modified the handle to make it removable and more durable than the original. You just can't beat what you find at the thrift stores.

Ultimate Backpacking Bowl - 2009/06/23 03:24 Have you looked into the plasticware available in the tupperware aisle of your super market? The area where they sell plastic pitchers and other kitchen hardware usually has screw top plastic containers.

Ultimate Backpacking Bowl - 2009/06/27 23:33 I use the JetBoil. It is insulated and has a top. It holds the fuel canister and the stove when not in use. I can also make coffee in it and it works perfectly for rehydrating foods.
