Hello everyone,

About 6 months ago I developed an interest in doing a hike called the Bibbulmun track, end to end. This would take around 50 days to complete, and I havn't found a great deal of information on the internet on how to go about food?? Most of the information I've been able to find is in relation to 5-7 day hikes.

I'd be carrying everything I need as I wouldn't be doing it with anyone else, so I can't make my pack any lighter in that way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi twarg, welcome to the forum here :)

That's strange  Every bit of information about the Bibbulmun track seems to cost money obtaining via the internet.

Is there a way to get food drops on that trail? If its a 50 day hike there is no way to carry that much food in a single load. So you will either be restocking at stopping points from mail drops, or hunting/gathering on your way.

The problem with hunting/gathering is you need a plan "b". Hunting/gathering does not always go as planned, and you dont want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with zero calories.

Hey Twarg,
Um, yeah. The reason you haven't found any info on it is because it's impossible to carry food for 50 days exactly as bdavidson said. You could cache or mail drop, but unless you're secretly a superhero, there's no way you'll be able to carry that much weight. You might get better feedback if you also post more info about the hike (e.g. average temps, how tough the trail is, etc.).
