Here is a good resource for hiking trails in the United States. I just added this webpage that lists trail information for each state.
http://www.favoritefamilyvacations.com/hiking-trails.html

Enjoy!

I'm trying to find some good 3 2-3 weekend treks in GA. I'll be bringing my 17 and 19 kids. I just moved here and don't know the trails at all so any help would be great!

At Richh's site (http://www.gastateparks.org/net/go/parks.aspx?show=map&s=0.0.1.5&siteid=5&wrapid=1) I see quite a lot of possibilities, Rugbydad61 ;)

And, welcome to this forum - I hope you'll enjoy it B)

Those look fantastic, I am looking for a week long trail hike, but I am so scared of bears!
I am new on here so it is nice to be here.

Natureday,

I came across this site the other day that has some helpful information about bears. Maybe this information will be helpful to other hikers.

Welcome Natureday - it's nice to have you here :)

I would be scared of a bear as well if I would encounter one :woohoo:

In case I run into one, to blend in, I always take a spare bear suit. It works pretty well, but be prepared to hang out with them for a few hours... and their stories are pretty much all the same- caught some fish, chased a hiker, found some free campsite food... that's about it.

Post edited by: fearless, at: 2007/04/21 01:04

Dude, hit up the AT, the Georgia section is really a nice one. I'd suggest the approach to mile 1 of the AT.

Post edited by: JerseyDevil, at: 2007/04/25 20:46
