View Full Version : Most useless stupid thread ever
12-14-2011, 01:34 AM
This is the post to put anything useless that has know where else to go.
For instance, what happened in your day today, something stupid or funny you heard or saw. Just about anything you can think of goes in this thread ( within reason of corse).
I will go first, today after work I played with my two budgies which my sheperd thinks they belong to her. So I got this silly pic of her trying to kiss them lol.

your dog has rather pretty eyes.
for my part, a useless and pointless thing which I have been considering lately is the fascination I have for this useless and pointless product
It is a small camping stove which burns twigs and pinecones, with the aid of a small battery powered bellows/
I dont know why, but Ive always found this an interesting idea, even though I dont need one

That stove is very interesting, but I have made a stove thats called a buddy burner. You take a small tuna can and roll up card board slightly smaller than the heigth of the tuna can. Make sure you roll several pieces to make it a tight fit. Melt wax in a double boiler or any empty can in side of a pan of water. When wax is melted pour over rolled card board till can is full. Let set up and harden. Use vise grips on can when melting wax can will be hot.
I have made a few and they boil water in 4min., but the wax leaves soot all over your cookware. Kinda useless imo lol.
You can youtube Buddy burner and get complete directions.
My dog Tibby does have beautiful eyes..... another shelter dog saved. Thanks for the compliment Woak.

yup, it really is interesting. for some reason I am just fascinated by backpack stoves which burn only woodchips and pinecones and stuff like that. I dont like the ones which burn liquids or petroleum products at all.
how do you know that Tibby wouldn't simply swallow those two budgies if you let her?
12-17-2011, 02:53 AM
She just might swallow them whole lol.... She has a big appetite! Although I have to keep her on a diet, or she gains weight fast.
Tibby actually believes the budgies are her birds. When I first brought one home she was in love with her. She follows them everywhere and first thing in the morning she goes to their cage to check on them. Its rather very cute the way she acts.
Tibby is very loving to all animals, she doesn't chase squirrels or cats and generally welcomes strange dogs into her home.

You know whats a bummer, I went to Verizon to upgrade my phone to the iphone 4S and they are on back order. So I'm looking at mid January :(
12-18-2011, 12:59 PM
that is pretty cute, I gotta admit.
I guess german sheperds are more tolerant of other animal species than most other dogs.

Rockytibby do you have a 3g already?
I get...hmm whats the word, not upset, not angry, maybe discontent....idk....but I see the craziness in commercialism in those Verizon commercials where they portray people with a 3G phone as inferior to those with 4G, and that now all the people with 3G need to buy a 4G to be on the same level as the people with 4G lol. The 3G is great and way better than my phone lol come onnnn. That thing still plays .wav files as ringtones xP! Those Gs sure are nice though!

GD, right now I'm using a LG envy touch and I cant open a pdf file or open files on my email. So its pretty much out dated. I mainly do all my internet from my pnone and a lot of my work. My work is office and home based and I'm on the go a lot, so an upgrade is in need. I work for theVA Caregiver Program so I travel to veterans homes. I haven't bought a new phone in almost 3 yrs, so its also kind a treat for myself.
GD, You wouldn't by any chance know how good the Garmin Forerunner 405cx is would you? There doesn't seem to be many runners on the forum, and right now they are on sale at Costco. Just curious :)

Heheh, I enjoy busting chops Tibby, jk with ya :)
Good for you, caregiver! :) That is great! Much needed profession right there.
I know nothing about Garmin Forerunner, or any Garmins for that matter, sorry cant be of help. But Garmin's in general are excellent, I bet it would be a great buy.

I was driving around the town of Mt. Shasta yesterday just to get familiar with the area. I moved here only 7 months ago, and guess what I found a Frissbee golf park. Has anyone played, I thought it was wayy cool. Anyway off to a store to buy 4 frissbeeies so me and my friends can play. Better practise now so I wont look like a fool come spring and summer. Got to love outdoor sports. :)

Yeaaa disc golf is a lot of fun. They have a course near Bar Harbor out here. Only played once. They are special frisbees Tibby. they are smaller and weigh more than the average frisbee.
Like these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BX678K

Thanks GD, I had no idea there were special disc's. I have a smaller frisbee that I bought at the Dollar store for my dog, but He wont play with it, So I'll use it for practice. :)

Frisbee golf can be a lot of fun. It's free, so that's a plus. It's a nice social thing people can do even if they aren't good at it. No need to use frisbees. A softball works or just about anything you can throw. To me, it's about fun and not a competion. I occassionally see college kids playing having great conversation and sneaking a bit of beer or something else out of a brown bag. It's what fun is supposed to look like.

Oh yea Gershon, sounds like me and my group of friends, only we dont sneak the beer we play frisbee to get drunk.
Our game (my version we play two different kinds)
Polish Frisbee. Set up two garbage cans approximately 20 yards away. Teams of two, team mates stand at opposite ends behind opposite trash cans. One team mate takes the frisbee and tries to make it in to the garbage can...if you do so thats 3 points and the other team has to drink. The team mate at the opposite end can direct smack the frisbee in to the garbage can...or say if my throw was off...my team mate can smack the frisbee and just hit the garbage can, that's one point. If the frisbee hits the garbage can the other team drinks. First team to 21 wins, and the losing team has to chug their beer. Great fun! We used to play this at car camping sites back in the day.
Another version...take two sticks and stand them in the ground approximately 20 yards away. Balance an empty beer bottle on top of both sticks. The one team has to try and knock off the beer bottle with a frisbee. Again the other team mate can interfere and direct a poor throw towards the bottle. If the bottle gets knocked over the other team must drink.

Sounds like beer ball in the Air Force. To get to first base, you had to drink a beer before getting there.

Oh man lolol!
12-25-2011, 08:40 AM
HA HA too funny.. Actually reminds me of a birthday party that I attended a few years ago at a sports arena for some indoor volleyball where an official "frisbee convention and tournament" was being held. I never saw so many geeks and nerds all in one place that weren't wired to a laptop playing "World of warcraft, the gathering" or something..

rofl nerds dont know what they are missing. Boot em out doors. What will they do in 2012 when the power grid fails xP jk.

What is your new years resolution?
Its probably pretty useless to make them considering most people break their resolution in two weeks flat, but here goes.
My new years resolution is to eat a more vegetatian diet, no meat at all but I still eat dairy. Sorry , cant seem to get away from yogurt, cheese and milk.
Also work on my running speed, right now I'm at 6mph which is slow for a race but ok for longer distances.
What about you? any changes you would like to make? Come on its kinda fun, and we can even take bets on who will cave first. :) :) :)
01-03-2012, 06:39 PM
IDK Tibby. I never really made resolutions because I enjoy everything the way it is. I think my new years resolution is more of a goal regardless if it was a resolution or not....to graduate this semester! :)

I just got my wings....Hehehe :p
I believe they are made out of Amythist Crystal, but cant remember do to the fact I suck at geology. You can purchase these for a cool $5000. I found them while shopping, couldn't resist the pic.
01-05-2012, 05:31 AM
5g's for wings, damn. Better not break those lol. That is pretty sweet they must get you from the trail head to the campsite pretty fast.

How to kindly do away with a person you dont like.
