Many, many years ago, I've crossed the Natchez Trace with a car, entering it from Louisiana right up until Chattanooga Falls, Tennessee. Hence my nickname B)

I was wondering if somebody had 'done' the Natchez Trail (or any part of it) hiking? And, if so, what are his/her experiences?

I'd love to go back one time....

Ha, MIZZTRIE
Yes, I feel I've missed out on something that time - I hope one day I can go back and 'do it right' - but until then I'm very curious as to stories of people having hiked the trail.

We were on a cross-state drive (visiting people around) so the trip had another goal -

I think for the trail itself one should make it the target of the trip - especially if you come from far.

Post edited by: natchez, at: 2007/06/16 13:23

Ey Natchez! Its funny how when things are in our own back yards, they always seem to be the last to be explored!

I have lived here for ummmm, about 20 years now and have yet to go Graceland (my mom cant believe this hehehehe)and to hike along the NT! One day I will move back out west and kick myself for not enjoying the things I have right here under my nose! And then I will have to make a point when I come back to visit to do those things! :woohoo:

Well, probably not Graceland! Love Elvis but, dont really care to hike around his digs...

If I get out on the NT, I will be sure to post plenty-o-photos for ya!!! And try to tell a good story or two about the trip!

Post edited by: MIZZTRIE, at: 2007/06/26 23:23

ooops I'm only seeing this now

That would be great, MIZZTRIE. I hope you get to do it. You're right: it IS funny: "tourists" very often get to see a lot more of our environmental surroundings than we do living near it. I really recognize that.

There are cases in which this causes me embarassment as well if, when hearing I live in Israel people having visited it go on with telling how 'great' -this or that place is, while not having been there myself

How come you like Elvis? He's still liked by younger generations as well?

Ay NATCHEZ! I grew up listening to a variety of music and my mom was a big Elvis fan so, I became one too! I LOVE listening to him croon and I will every now and again indulge in the guilty pleasure of watching one of his hokey movies on a Sunday afternoon! Hehehehhhe:woohoo:

I still enjoy a variety of music and I thank her and my dad for exposing me when I was young! It makes it a little easier to tolerate some of the stuff that my 17 year old listens to! I dont like it all but I can tolerate it!

Post edited by: MIZZTRIE, at: 2007/07/06 17:27

Hahahaaa  I love today's music, even the hip-hop - but I'm a TOTAL music freak, couldn't live without it and like literally everything except for jazz.

That's so nice that you like Elvis because I like him too and more often than not people I tell this are looking at me like "you're weird" :silly: I don't know why but some sentimentality seems to be 'not done' these days or in a form directed by the youth. (Kelly Clarkson style, which I love as well).

What's your most favorite song of Elvis?
(I'm getting tear-eyed hearing American trilogy and 'you were always on my mind' and of the faster tunes my favorites are jailhouse rock, blue suede shoes and Guitar Man B) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6sQxOqQiYc)

NATCHEZ - Of course "In The Ghetto" tops my list and I always sing along in my out of tune voice! Kentucky Rain, Love Me Tender, Blue Christmas, Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, and like you, Blue Suede Shoes and Guitar Man are among some of my favs!!! I also love Viva Las Vegas and one that was recently redone Little Less Conversation. All of em put me in a very, I dunno, very sentimental( I think is a good word) mood!:woohoo:

All this talk of 'The King' I am going ot have to go dig out some CDs and give em a listen while cleaning my house today!!! :P

edited to add: I also like a lot of todays music... Some that even my son doesnt care for. I like Pink and Gwen Stephani as well as Eminim and Toby Keith! So there is quite a mix that I can listen to. I do like Jazz and Classical too. Pink Floyd is also one of my all time favorites as well as the Oldies but goodies from the 50s and 60's... Just a bit of everything...

Did you listen to Elvis y'day while cleaning the house, MIZZTRIE? :P I'm listening to him much more now too, because of this discussion we're having  Yes, todays music - it wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the 'kings' and 'queens' that turned popular music around during the 50s/60s. There is a small 'tune' of Elvis I forgot to mention that you don't hear much of (not even when he was played often on the radio) called 'it was a night' or something like that. Have you ever heard of it? (I am sure you have) I like that one as well: A LOT....

Hey Natchez! Uhhhh, I think I forgot to answer this one! It the song called Such A Night? I like that one too if that is the one! I will have to dig around and see if I can find one titled 'It was a night'!

It is a VERY HOT DAY! Here in Tenneessee! Dont know if I will make it out for a hike this weekend or not! May just settle for a run at the local greenway!
