Do The Spammy Posts Get Eliminated Really Fast?

When I went to reply to a few recent posts that had started with spam, the threads were gone already. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't taking the wrong vitamins or something...? Not that I need cheap bulk Viagra or anything, just wondering. :)
