Hello all,

First time poster, glad to be on board.

I'm looking for a pair of men's low-cut hikers, primarily for urban/trail use. I have major pronation (essentially flat feet). I currently have an older pair of Garmont Nagevi's, and while I love them, their orange and grey colour scheme don't exactly look the most stylish in a cafe or urban setting.

I have 3 factors to determine which shoes to get, price is no object.

1. First and foremost, is function. They should be at least on par with my Nagevi's in terms of sole, cushioning, support, and anatomical fit.

2. Secondly is looks. I know, it's being picky, but if at all possible, I'd like them to somewhat look like the shoes below, black, charcoal, or dark brown would all be acceptable.

3. The "least" most important factor is that it's waterproof and perhaps breathable. Maybe XCR, maybe leather, who knows.

Come to think about it, maybe the 2nd and 3rd factors should be switched around, I don't know.

I hope to get some good suggestions, thanks in advance!

Hi acidreign and welcome to our forum :-)
Can't get why the look is important to you - after the first track my shoes look like a tractor after a day of work
Anyway, I use either Rockwell or Timberland, they have great shoes, very comfortable, all water proof and nice to my opinion.
Not sure if they cover your orthopedic needs though...

My opinion is that you should have sturdy ankle support, particularly if you hike alone. You twist or break an ankle in the outback and it could cost you your life. That's my two cent.

Buddy, if you have flat feet but are picky about boots, try the Posture Control Insoles because:
1 They are slim and you can fit them in any shoe
2 they help with your pronation
I'm using them and I'm super happy with them.
Check them out on this blog:

Mercury, welcome to the forum :) Thank you for the advise. I hadn't seen this question (sorry acidreign  ) but that would be the first thing I would think about as well if I heard the word 'flatfeet' - insoles....

If you like the Garmont feel, you need to stick with them. I loved every pair i have ever had.

If you are looking for a more "Subdued" look in your Garmont try their:

Synrco plus GTX http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/gusa_1955_20939890

or
Syncro GTX

or the lighter version: the Passo
