New to hiking... Going to buy a filter and I'm considering the Katadyn Hiker PRO. It seems to have gotten pretty good reviews. Anyone used this filter?

I appreciate your feedback as I'm trying to research and make the right decision before spending the bucks.

Thanks-
M.

consider the spec's and not the cost. what and where are you going to use the filter (in the world of hiking). i have used MSR miniworks for 8 years now. no problems and good filtering, 1 lt/min with ceramic filter

JD, thanks for the reply. I'll be in the Grand Canyon for 8 - 9 nights next year and several trips around S. Florida, N. Florida and a trip in Georgia. I'll check out the MSR also. I really don't mind the cost so much as I want the best quality and dependability.

My friend had one, I used it, and didn't get sick, but whos to say it worked or if I just picked a spot that was fresh. I never used it on standing water or any that looked sketchy.
